David Walters, Franschhoek, South Africa

I recently came back from a trip to South Africa where I had the chance to visit with various ceramicists.  On a visit to Franschhoek, which is a beautiful little town in the local wine region, I had a chance to visit David Walter's studio and gallery.  It is the type of gallery and studio that most ceramicists dream of having.  David and his daughter, Sarah, create beautiful functional pottery.
Here are some images of their pieces.  Enjoy!

Japanese Ceramics at Waka Artisans Hong Kong

I was in Hong Kong a month ago for a few days.  While exploring the city we found this really cool place called PMQ.  It is a multi-use building where young creative entrepreneurs rent space. There are galleries, studios, shops, and restaurants.  We were there early so not all the shops were open yet.  However, we found a ceramic shop called Waka Artisans.  It was founded by Takako Kosciuszko who started working with fine pottery as a chef to compliment and accentuate the food she was serving.
The work that is on display is from the Kasama region outside of Tokyo.  Here are pictures of the beautiful simplicity of some of the pieces.
